A computer hardware engineer carries out a range of roles from the research phase, to the design and development process when developing computer software’s and equipment for a variety of different industries. As an engineer you may have to oversee the manufacturing and installation of equipment and its elements.

Various skills you may need for the role is an analytical nature which breaks down user needs and pinpoints hardware to recommend as a solution. You will be building prototypes and working with models or theories which enable you to develop central processing units, support logic, microprocessors, custom integrated circuits, and printers.

Some other common tasks a hardware engineer will need to undertake are the testing and verification stages of hardware to ensure they meet customer requirements. As a result you will be writing up in-depth specification about the hardware development process.
